Vibe Trade up to Grab Beason at No. 1 in 2024 PVF Draft

The Atlanta Vibe swung a deal with the expansion Indy Ignite to secure the first selection in the 2024 Pro Volleyball Federation draft. With the pick, the Vibe chose Merritt Beason, an opposite hitter who just completed her college career at Nebraska.

The Ignite swapped the No. 1 for Atlanta’s No. 2, and also received the Vibe’s second round pick. That gave the expansion team three of the first 16 picks in the second draft in league history.

Indy chose outside hitter Anna DeBeer (Louisville) at No. 2 overall. The team followed by plucking DeBeer’s teammate Elena Scott as the first choice in the second round. Scott was widely considered to be the best libero in NCAA women’s volleyball. With the 16th overall pick, the last pick in the second round, the Ignite chose middle blocker CC Crawford from Wisconsin. Those choices give the first-year team strength in three areas in the court.

In all, 40 players were chosen in five rounds of the 2024 PVF Draft. Teams now must come to terms with the players they drafted, hoping to fill out rosters. Every player who performed in the league in year one was under a one-year contract. Many of those players have re-upped with their previous team or moved on to other teams in some cases.
