In what may be just a precursor to a bigger honor, Leah Edmond was named Outside Hitter of the Year for the Professional Volleyball Federation on Tuesday.
A member of the Atlanta Vibe, Edmond is favored to win the Most Valuable Player Award in the first season of the women’s professional league.
Edmond recorded 424 points with 380 kills for the Vibe, which posted the best record in the league. Her kills ranked second in the league to Claire Chaussee, but Edmonds’ 4.28 Kills PEr Set were tops in the PVF.
Edmond is in her fourth professional season, following one year in Puerto Rico and two with Athletes Unlimited. At 6’3 with great leaping ability and power, Edmond is a fearsome offensive force for the Vibe, and also showed presence at the net, recording 0.51 blocks per set, one of the 10 best figures in the PVF.
The PVF MVP will be named on Thursday, two days before the PVF Championship finals. The Vibe are favored against Grand Rapids in the semi-finals, though those teams split the season series.
Comment:
Congratulations to Leah Edmond on being named Outside Hitter of the Year!
Her impressive stats and impact on the court truly make her a force to be reckoned with.
It’s no surprise that she’s also a strong contender for the MVP award.
With the PVF Championship finals just around the corner, I’m looking forward to seeing her continue to dominate and
lead the Atlanta Vibe to victory. Best of luck to Leah and
the team!
