A return to the starting rotation was apparently what Natalia Valentin-Anderson needed, as the Omaha Supernovas setter played brilliantly to win the Pro Volleyball Federation Player of the Week honor.
Valentin-Anderson sparked a Supernovas victory last week over Columbus, recording 55 assists, 17 digs, and adding two aces and a block. NVA did it all for Omaha, helping that team secure the No. 2 seed in the PVF Championship tournament, which begins May 15 at CHI Health Center.
Four different Omaha players have won the Pro Volleyball Federation Player of the Week honor presented by Franklin Sports. The others were Bethania De La Cruz, Sydney Hilley, and Brooke Nuneviller. Only the Atlanta Vibe have had as many as four players win the award in this inaugural season of the pro women’s league.
Valentin-Anderson brought attention to the league, her team, and herself last week by appearing on the ESPN “Top 10 Plays of the Day” following an amazing performance against the Vegas Thrill on Monday.
Valentin-Anderson is a native of Puerto Rico, and serves as captain of the Puerto Rican National Women’s Volleyball Team.
