Mojo Keep Pace in Playoff Race With Five-Set Win over Omaha

The San Diego Mojo inched closer to a .500 record with a spirited five-game set victory on their home floor against Omaha on Tuesday night.

The Mojo finished the season series even at 2-2 against the Supernovas, winning 19-25, 25-17, 25-22, 21-25, 15-8.

San Diego holds a two-game lead on Orlando for the fourth and final PVF playoff spot. The championship playoffs will begin May 15. The championship winner will win a $1 million prize.

The Mojo and Supernovas were fairly matched this season in four meetings. The two teams played 17 sets, and they competed about as close as possible, with Omaha winning 9, and San Diego taking 8. But on Tuesday on Hawaiian Night in their home arena, San Diego said Aloha to their rivals, winning three of the last four sets to get a much-needed win.

San Diego got 50 assists from Nootsara Tomkom, and a team-best 22 kills from Temi Thomas-Ailara.

Willow Johnson, making her second appearance of the season for San Diego after her overseas contract expired, recorded 14 kills on 31 swings.
